Panel Discussion will be live streamed today via Internet
University of Maryland School of BOB体育 , will be one of four deans participating in a panel discussion to be held Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 12 noon to 1:30 pm at the University of Florida College of BOB体育.
The panel, which will be live streamed nationally (), will focus on contemporary issues in American medicine and medical education. In addition to Dr. Reece and UF College of BOB体育 dean Dr. Michael L. Good, the panel will include Dr. Joseph Kerschner, dean of the School of BOB体育 and executive vice president of the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Dr. Toni Ganzel, dean of the University of Louisville School of BOB体育. Questions for the panel will be accepted via Twitter using the hashtag #UFMed60 and will be providing updates via our, and accounts.

Medical Alumni Association Hosts Traditional and Historic Portrait Unveiling Ceremony; Dean Reece Joins Past UMSOM Deans
In a time-honored tradition that has taken place throughout the 212-year history of the University of Maryland School of BOB体育, the official portrait of its 30th Dean, E. Albert Reece, MD, PhD, MBA, was unveiled at a special ceremony held in Davidge Hall last week. The tradition dates back to the UMSOM's first Dean in 1807, Dr. John Beale Davidge (portrait shown above left). Since then, a portrait has been painted and unveiled for each Dean as they approach the end of their tenure. Dean Reece has announced that he will complete his 16-year tenure as Dean in June of this year (2022), and will return to the UMSOM faculty as Director of the new Center for Advanced Research Training & Innovation (CARTI), and continue his research as Co-Director of the Center for Birth Defects Research.

Dean E. Albert Reece, MD, PhD, MBA, Vice President of Medical Affairs at the University of Maryland and the John Z. and Akiko Bowers Distinguished Professor and Dean at UM SOM and Robert E. Fischell, ScD, a member of the University of Maryland School of BOB体育 (UM SOM) Board of Visitors, were recently honored at the induction ceremony of the 2015 Fellows of the National Academy of Inventors at the NAI's fifth annual conference, held this year in Washington D.C. on Apr. 14-15.
